A produce officer on uniform shall stop and search any vehicle, container, boosters suspected on reasonable ground to be carrying produce intended for Export or if imported to unload it for inspection and clearance from pest infestation at a convenient place.

Power to seize and detain produce whether or not intended for Export on the ground of infestation and fumigate the produce and the vehicle at owner’s expenses.

Power of entry and seal of illegal warehouses with intent to store or export produce.

Any person who without reasonable excuse, the proof of which shall lie upon him contravenes or fails to comply with any order or other requirement of a Pest Control Inspector and Produce Officer of FPIS shall be guilty of an offence against the Act, and the penalties prescribed for an offence there under shall upon conviction be imposed accordingly.

Exemption : Produce to which Regulation shall not apply shall be produce on transit from another country.
